• The Govt. of Maharashtra by its Notification dated 9th Aug., 2006 (Published in Govt. Gazette on 7th Dec., 2006) appointed MMRDA as Special Planning Authority for 27 villages from Kalyan and Ambarnath Talukas of Thane Dist. This Notified Area is approximately of 50sq.km.
• MMRDA by its Notification dated 7th Feb., 2008 declared under Section 23 of the Maharashtra Regional & Town Planning Act, 1966 its intention to prepare Development Plan for the said Notified Area.
• The procedure to shortlist and select Consultant for preparation of Development Plan is over.
• The Executive Committee of MMRDA by its Resolution No. 1093 passed in its 224th meeting held on 30th May 2008 has approved the proposal to appoint the Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad as Consultant, at a fees of Rs.68Lacs plus service tax, for preparation of draft D.P. for this Notified Area.
• MMRDA issued on 17th July 2008 the Letter of Appointment of to the CEPT. The Agreement of Consultancy is executed on 22nd July 2008  with the CEPT and the Work Order is also issued on 22nd July 2008 to the CEPT.
• The CEPT is allowed a period of 36 weeks to complete the Consultancy assignment from the date of execution of Agreement.
• The steps of setting up Evaluation Committee to monitor the Consultancy assignment are being taken.
• Budgetary provision of Rs.1.50Crore is made in the MMRDA’s Annual Budget for 2008-09 for Development Plan.
