• The Govt. of Maharashtra by its Notification dated 17th March, 2007 (Published in Govt. Gazette on 19th April, 2007) appointed MMRDA as Special Planning Authority for Bhiwandi Surrounding Notified Area which includes the area of 51 villages from Bhiwandi Taluka of Thane Dist. This Notified Area is approximately of 150sq.km.
• MMRDA by its Notification dated 7th Feb, 2008 has declared under Section 23 of the Maharashtra Regional & Town Planning Act, 1966 its intention to prepare Development Plan for this Notified Area.
• The procedure to shortlist and select Consultant for preparation of Development Plan is over.
• The Executive Committee of MMRDA by its Resolution No. 1104 passed in its 224th meeting held on 30th May 2008 has approved the proposal to appoint the Zeitgeist Advisorate, A Division of N.G.Lakhanpal Strategic Management Services Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon as Consultant, at a fees of Rs.97Lacs plus service tax, for preparation of draft D.P. for this Notified Area. The Evaluation Committee is set up to monitor the Consultancy assignment.
• MMRDA has executed on 31st July 2008 Agreement of Consultancy with the N.G. Lakhanpal Strategic Management Services Pvt. Ltd. The Consultant is allowed to prepare the draft D.P. within 36 weeks from the date of Agreement. The Consultant is given extension upto 30th Jan.2010 to submit the draft D.P.
• An expenditure of Rs.0.10 Crore was made for preparation of draft D.P. during 2008-09 and Budgetary provision of Rs.0.50 Crore is made in the MMRDA’s Annual Budget for 2009-10 for the task.
• Development Charge of Rs. 8.10 Crore is received under the provisions of the MR&TP Act 1966 during 2008-09 for the development proposals in this Notified Area.
