• The Govt. of Maharashtra  by its Notification dated 17th March, 2007 (Published in Govt. Gazette on 19th April, 2007) appointed MMRDA as Special Planning Authority for Bhiwandi Surrounding Notified Area which includes the area of 51 villages from Bhiwandi Taluka of Thane Dist.  This Notified Area is approximately of 150sq.km.
• MMRDA by its Notification dated 7th Feb., 2008 has declared under Section 23 of the Maharashtra Regional & Town Planning Act, 1966  its intention to prepare Development Plan for this Notified Area.
• The procedure to shortlist and select Consultant for preparation of Development Plan is over.
• The Executive Committee of MMRDA by its Resolution No. 1104 passed in its 224th meeting held on 30th May 2008 has approved the proposal to appoint the Zeitgeist Advisorate, A Division of N.G.Lakhanpal Strategic Management Services Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon as Consultant, at a fees of Rs.97Lacs plus service tax, for preparation of draft D.P. for this Notified Area.
• MMRDA has issued on 17th July 2008 the Letter of Appointment to the Consultant. MMRDA will execute Agreement of Consultancy with the N.G. Lakhanpal Strategic Management Services Pvt. Ltd.
• Budgetary provision of Rs.1.50Crore is made in the MMRDA’s Annual Budget for 2008-09 for Development Plan.
