Metropolitan Commissioner is an appointee from Government of Maharashtra. He heads the office of MMRDA which consists of the functional Divisions namely Planning, Town and Country Planning, Transport and Communications, Project Management Unit for Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), Engineering, Finance & Accounts and Administration. These Divisions are headed by Chiefs who are specialist in the respective fields. Total staff strength of MMRDA is about 300 consisting of technical and non-technical personnel suitably organised in these Divisions.
