Mumbai is considered the commercial and financial center of India. However, it is also the most populous city in the country which greatly affects the transportation and communication within the vicinity. With the continuous growing population, facilities and infrastructures become insufficient. It faced numerous issues such as the large population of vehicles, the traffic congestion, slow progress of traffic and even local trains face the same fate. So the State Government, MMRDA, Indian Railways and World Bank hand in hand looked for solutions to resolve the crisis.
Two important objectives of the projects are:
- To resolve the traffic for easy transportation in MMR
- To develop and strengthen the institutions
With the financial support of World Bank the project was successfully established.
