Balance works of MCGM’s Mumbai-III Water Supply and Sewerage Project:

The scheme was originally funded by the World Bank, the balance work of Rs. 190 cr. are financed with a loan assistance of Rs. 113.61 cr. Based on the expenditure incurred by the MCGM, full amount of loan is disbursed. The repayment has commenced in September, 2001 and the MCGM has paid Rs.121.08 cr. in September, 2007 on account of loan repayment and interest.

MCGM’s Mumbai-III A Water Supply Project

This is a project for bringing an additional 355 mld of water from Bhatsa at an estimated cost of Rs. 561.71 cr. The Phase-I works costing Rs. 373.33 cr. are being financed by MMRDA with a loan assistance of Rs. 223.94 cr. Full loan amount is released and loan repayment has commenced from September, 2007.

Bulk Works of Vasai-Virar Water Supply Scheme ‘Surya' (Stage-I)

MMRDA is providing Rs. 208.19 cr. as loan assistance to MJP towards the GIA and loan to 4 Municipal Councils in the Vasai-Virar area. Under this, 100 mld water taken from Maswan will be treated and brought to the MBR at Virar and distribution system will be designed. The works are being executed by the MJP. By the end of December, 2007 an amount of Rs. 149.06 cr. is disbursed for the project. Since June, 2006, the 4 Municipal Councils and the MJP have started repayment of loan disbursed by then.

Financing of JNNURM Projects and other Projects:

MMRDA has recently approved a loan assistance of Rs. 1154.61 crores to 3 Municipal Corporations, namely, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation - Rs. 634.09 crores, Thane Municipal Corporation - Rs. 408.00 crores and for Kalyan- Dombivali Municipal Corporation - Rs. 112.52 crores for the development of infrastructure works approved under UIG Sub-mission of  JNNURM as well as for some projects taken up outside JNNURM

Integrated Village Development Scheme (IVDS)-2004 to 2010:

Since 1999, MMRDA has been providing grants for ZPs of Raigad and Thane for the projects under Village Improvement Scheme to improve living conditions and environment of village and connectivity through provision of basic amenities and infrastructure provision. An integrated IVDS Scheme is adopted since 2004.

Under the Scheme 103 villages are eligible to receive funds up to Rs. 25 lakhs each for execution of works through Z.P., by 2009-10. Administrative approval for 183 projects from 100 villages with estimated cost of Rs. 20.50 crores is already granted, the details of which are given in the following table:

Improvement of roads in outer area of MMR

Objective of the project is to improve transport infrastructure in outer areas of MMR. The Scheme started in the year 1986-87 and was extended to sub projects I, II, III, IV. Under this sub- project 47 road works have been completed by Z.P. Thane & Z.P. Raigad with the grant of Rs. 244.41 lakhs. Grant of 90% is given out of total expenditure and balance 10% is to be borne by the institutions themselves.

Sub-Projects: VA:

Raigad Z.P. has initially proposed 31 roads but submitted plans & estimates of 17 roads works. MMRDA have given administrative approval to 12 works. Out of that Raigad Z.P. completed 8 works.

Sub-Projects: VB:

Z.P. Thane has submitted list of 66 works. Which are sanctioned. Administrative approval to 57 works is given by MMRDA. Out of that Thane Z.P. completed 53 road works.

Sub-Projects: VIA:

Raigad Z.P. has submitted plans and estimates for 18 works. MMRDA gave administrative approval to 16 works, out of that 13 works are completed by Raigad Z.P. Balance works under above projects are in progress. Required funds are being made available as per the progress of works. So far for projects VA,VB, VI A MMRDA (share) released Rs.6.43 Crores towards 90% grant.
